DESCRIPTION;ALTREP="CID:<FFFF__=0ABBE548DFE235B58f9e8a93d@coffeebean.com>":
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:\nThis workshop on ground-based microwave radiometer ob
servations is organized within the ACTRIS Centre for Cloud Remote Sensing
(CCRES). The University of Cologne is hosting the microwave radiometer uni
t of CCRES which has the goal to ensure high-quality observations within t
he whole ACTRIS network. The workshop takes place at the Research Centre J
ülich\, where JOYCE (Jülich Observatory of Cloud Remote Sensing) is locate
 d. JOYCE is operated by the University of Cologne as an ACTRIS national fa
cility for cloud remote sensing and is also part of the E-Profile program.
\nThis workshop is focused on all aspects of microwave radiometer operati
on\, calibration\, quality control and data processing. A special focus is
given on network operation in ACTRIS and E-Profile. \n \nWORKSHOP CONTENT
 :\n\nMicrowave radiometry background (theory\, retrieval development)\nPra
ctical aspects of MWR operation in networks (ACTRIS\, E-Profile)\nCalibrat
ion methods\, hands-on calibration training\nPresentation of the new ACTRI
S MWR data processing (Python)\nOverview of quality assurance and quality
control methods\nNew developments in microwave radiometry\n\n \nTARGET GRO
UP:\nThe workshop targets scientists and operators of microwave radiometer
s in networks\, such as the ACTRIS Cloud Remote Sensing network (Cloudnet)
\, E-Profile and others. The workshop is also open for interested people b
eyond this network\, especially via the PROBE COST action.\n \nAPPLICATION
 :\nPlease send an e-mail until 26 June 2022 to actris-ccres-mwr(at)uni-koe
ln.de containing a short motivation letter with your main interests (max.
1 page). Please provide following information: What are your main interest
s around microwave radiometry? Are you currently operating a microwave rad
iometer? Which networks are you participating?\nThe number of participants
is limited! We will inform you about your participation by July 1st.\nSom
e travel funding will be available via PROBE\, please mention in your appl
ication whether you are interested in this funding. \n \n \nORGANIZATIONAL
  ASPECTS:\n\nTime plan: Wednesday 31 August 2022 (morning) - Friday 2 Sept
ember 2022 (early afternoon).\n\nA more detailed time schedule will follow
\, but we will be quite flexible according to the weather. \n\n\n\n \n\nWo
rkshop Hosts: Bernhard Pospichal\, Lukas Pfitzenmaier\, Tobias Marke (Univ
ersity of Cologne)\nWorkshop Location: Research Center Jülich\, Wilhelm-Jo
 hnen-Straße\, 52428 Jülich. Building 05.2 (IEK-8)\n\nPractical information
regarding travel and accomodation will follow!\n\nIn case of questions\,
