DESCRIPTION;ALTREP="CID:<FFFF__=0ABBE548DFE235B58f9e8a93d@coffeebean.com>":
What are the most popular and widespread remote sensing instruments used t
o observe the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL)? In Europe\, these include:
wind profilers (&gt\; 20 Doppler wind lidars\; &gt\;30 radar wind profile
 rs)\, temperature and humidity profilers (&gt\; 30 microwave radiometers)\
, aerosol profilers (&gt\; 700 automatic lidars and ceilometers)\, and clo
ud profilers (&gt\; 15 doppler cloud radar). Profiling systems are deploye
d and operated in response to a variety of interests by governments\, rese
arch institutions\, universities\, and the private sector. To exploit data
coming from these networks efficiently\, operating procedures and data pr
ocessing have to be harmonised. \nIn this introductory lecture\, our exper
ts described some of the instrument networks in which PROBE is involved. W
e provided insights into data coverage and advanced products. We also show
ed how you can benefit from joining these networks and how you can contrib
 ute to harmonised European measurements.\n \nMeeting speakers:\nIntroducti
