All are welcome at our upcoming PROBE general meeting where we will share information on ongoing activities and discuss the agenda for the upcoming months. PROBE has a large variety of subgroups that are working on retrievals of high-quality advanced products that describe the ABL based on high-quality profile observation at the European scale:

  • Clouds and precipitation
  • Wind and turbulence
  • Temperature and humidity profiling
  • Forecast indices
  • Fog alerts
  • Icing alerts
  • ABL characterisation

In numerous expert teams we work in close collaboration with the manufacturers of ground-based remote sensing instruments on the implementation of technological advances in harmonised measurement networks. These task groups focus on

  • Automatic lidars and ceilometers (ALC)
  • Doppler wind lidars (DL)
  • Microwave radiometers (MWR)
  • Doppler cloud radars (DCR)
  • Uncrewed aerial systems (UAS)

While the research of the PROBE community covers a wide range of specific ABL domains of interest, we are particularly advancing the knowledge exchange in the fields of

  • ABL in complex terrain
  • ABL in urban environment

In this meeting, the Action chairs will review the status of the activities, while the Action Grant Holder will present an update on new COST rules. The Action Working Group chairs will present an update on plans for the activities until the end of Grant period. The Management Committee will have the opportunity to vote on the proposed plan and stakeholders will have the chance to provide feedback and express their additional needs.
