Establishment, operation and data evaluation of a climate measurement network on the Galapagos Islands.

Development of a procedure for the creation and evaluation of a data set of different precipitation types (convective, stratiform) with machine learning procedures on the basis of geostationary satellite systems and meteorological radar satellites.

qualification required:  a very good doctorate in physical geography - climatology (or similar) as well as sound knowledge in the areas of remote sensing, machine learning with big data, and programming (e.g. in Python) are required

Job Offer: Research Assistant (Ph.D. study) in the field of polar boundary layer meteorology

main topics: Large-eddy simulation (LES) of the polar stable boundary layer shall be performed.

The LES shall be analyzed and compared with data collected at Hailuoto, Finland in two field campaigns. This position involves a teaching load of 6 hours per week.
