STRATfinder: Automatic detection of mixed layer heights from attenuated backscatter profile observations
subgroup meetings
Friday, 16 June, 2023 10:00 - 12:00
zoom
The automatic algorithm STRATfinder (Kotthaus et al. 2020) is increasingly applied to detect mixed-layer heights from attenuated backscatter profile observations. This meeting of the WG2 ABL subgroup has two overarching objectives
- The STRATfinder development team (IPSL) is going to summarise recent updates of the algorithm and provide an overview on current uncertainties and limitations. This includes aspects of pre-processing (e.g. calibration, overlap correction), the layer detection algorithm, as well as the automatic quality control procedure.
- Any users of STRATfinder are invited to share their experience with the tool, report on potential issues, and highlight how the results are being exploited for their research.
We would also like to discuss how future developments of the tool could be achieved through community efforts.
Anyone is invited to join this open meeting.
If you would like to contribute with a short presentation on your STRATfinder user experience, please email
Access details for the virtual meeting are provided in the file below.
